Monochromatic & Overcast Dublin, 1999
I showed an early interest in street photography. I was 22 at most when I shot these. I don't remember the film, but it appears to be a fine grained, and given my budget nothing too fancy. I cropped and a preset on these in Lightroom which gave them the brown (sepia?) cast, but otherwise they are as taken.

At the time of writing St. Stephen's Green Shopping Centre is planned to be practically demolished and rebuilt as a horrifically dull and ugly office block. To be frank the S.C. is no beauty queen, but at least it has character.

Are you really taking photos in Dublin if you don't get a Moore Street stall? Pity I didn't have the balls to capture the stallholder in it.

If you know Dublin you will notice these are not in order (unless I crossed the city 5 times), but I like them this way. The old Central Bank building in Temple Bar with the same motley mix of students, tourists, and office workers as it has today. These photos are scanned from damaged negatives.

Back on Grafton St. and maybe I forgot I was shooting B+W when I snapped this colourful display of flowers! Given the weather I don't think Kodacolor would have done these photos any justice regardless.
The brick paving on Grafton Street was ubiquitous in the 1990s. It didn't look modern or old even back then - just dull.

In hindsight I was lucky he didn't shoot back. Note the "Wedding Bus". Does it still exist?

The Molly Malone statue once stood on Grafton Street near College Green. I can't recall if her boobs were shiny back then, but I don't think so.
Apart from minor details and shop names I think you could replicate all these photos today (2026). Even the clothing is not that much changed.
