Estación Internacional de Canfranc

Estación Internacional de Canfranc

Canfranc is an absolutely massive railway station on the border between France and Spain. It was a transfer hub for passengers to alight the standard gauge Franch trains and board the Iberian gauge Spanish trains. It has endless carriage and train sheds, a huge terminal, and is in the absolute middle of nowhere. It never really achieved even a fraction of its hoped for potential and a combination of world wars, landslides, and lack of interest means it eventually became dilapidated. For my birthday in 2023 we stayed in the old railway terminal - now am EU funded and very luxurious 5 star hotel that due to being in the middle of nowhere is not much busier than it was when it served as a railway station. If you want to stay in a luxury hotel for Holiday Inn prices you might get lucky, and if you like old transport infrastructure you might get a few good photos.

    The Tram & Castle

High ISO, an open lens, and an M43 sensor pushed this photo to daubled territory but it is still one of my favourites from our few days in Lisbon. ...
